About Mill Forge

Located on the outskirts of romantic Gretna Green, the Mill Forge is a quaint complex of historic Grade-B listed buildings dating all the way back to the 1700’s. A popular wedding venue, it is renowned for its relaxed, tranquil surroundings and wonderful, friendly service.

Specialising in a tantalising range of traditional British cuisine, the Mill Forge Restaurant offers a selection of dishes to suit all tastes and budgets. From delicious homemade steak pie to more exotic dishes such as Galloway Pork, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The well-stocked Conservatory Bar is the ideal place to unwind and enjoy a drink or two or perhaps sample a dram of one of the many malt whiskies available.

As one of Gretna Green’s premier wedding venues, the Mill Forge is the perfect place to celebrate this most special of days. With flexible facilities, an extensive knowledge of the industry, a team of dedicated wedding coordinators and some truly romantic surroundings it has everything one could need to ensure a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Accommodation Information

Within the beautiful landscaped grounds and sited around three attractive courtyards are 33 comfortable en-suite guestrooms. All rooms are situated on the ground floor with doors leading directly outside. Whatever the occasion there are accommodation options to suit everyone including Single, Double, Twin, Triple and Family rooms all of which come complete with flat-screen TV, hairdryer, central heating and tea & coffee making facilities. For something truly special, the spacious Bridal Suites feature luxurious four-poster beds, whirlpool bath, countryside views and large double bathrooms - perfect for soaking up the romantic ambiance.

Location Information

Situated on the outskirts of Gretna Green, the Hotel is just a minute’s drive from Junction 21 of the M74 and only 18 minutes from Carlisle, what’s more it offers plenty of free on-site parking. Newcastle is an 80 minute drive away and has excellent transport links. There is also a local train station in Gretna Green just a 5 minute walk from the Hotel. For those flying in, Newcastle International Airport is 80 minutes away.

Situated just a few miles north of the Scotland England border, the Mill Forge is an ideal base from which to explore the many wonderful attractions in the area. Gretna Green itself is renowned as the ‘Marriage Capital’ of the UK and is home to the ‘World Famous Old Blacksmith’s Shop’ an historic marriage house and visitor centre. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the surrounding Scottish countryside and the Hotel’s close proximity to the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Solway Coast. For a day’s shopping, it’s just a short drive to Carlisle or Gretna Gateway Retail Village whilst for historic pursuits there’s both Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery.

Customers can cancel their reservation free of charge up to 1 day before arrival. After this date, charges will be applied by the property up to the first nights cost of the reservation, unless otherwise stated in the property’s conditions. Deposits paid are non refundable.
