Location Information

Agonda is a small, peaceful village in the south of Goa, with a 3 km sandy beach and plenty of surrounding forest. Agonda is said to be the undiscovered paradise of Goa. It is an ideal place to lounge around and relax, as the area is not visited by many tourists. The village is surrounded by about 500 hectares of lush green woodland and it is easy to experience the feel of village life in this sleepy spot.
Rural life in Agonda is much simpler and more tranquil than in the other nearby coastal villages. The beach is a protected zone for the Olive Ridley sea turtle, therefore well suited for those seeking peace and quiet – nightlife can be found 6km away in Palolem.

Last year Agonda was acclaimed as India’s most beautiful beach.

Goa is visibly different to the rest of India, due to its past Portuguese colonisation and was isolated from the rest of India for 451 years. The establishment of the republic of Portugal on the 5th of October 1910 led to religious freedom for Goa. For the first time since the beginning of European rule, Hindus were allowed to freely practice their religion. In 1961 the Portuguese left Goa
