About Sandrock Holiday Hostel

Please note our location:
We are in Malin Head, which is a small area in County DONEGAL but we are 100 kms from the town of Donegal at Ireland's Most Northerly Point!!!

Our RECEPTION of guests into the hostel closes at 10pm but all guests are given keys for 24 hour access to hostel once booked in. This is to prevent sleeping guests being disturbed by late arrivals.

Our modest hostel perfectly encapsulates the spirit of our town in its size, hospitality and character. Ours is farming & fishing community through and through; fantastic seascapes are viewable from the windows of our two spacious dormitories and the kitchen is rarely bereft of the sumptuous scent of cooking seafood. Join us and enjoy for yourself this character-full Irish community.

Sandrock Holiday Hostel is a purpose built hostel situated above the small fishing pier at Port Ronan with ever changing breathtaking spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean [White Strand Bay], the headlands of Inishowen and Fanad Peninsulas and the Highlands of Donegal.

The proprietors, Margaret and Rodney, offer modern holiday hostel accommodation at this premier scenic location which is a perfect base for touring, walking or cycling. Walking routes in various languages are available. WI-FI is available for guests.

In common with other tourist hostels we provide quality budget holiday accommodation. We can accommodate up to 20 guests in two comfortable en-suite dormitories. Each dormitory has large bunk beds [duvets and pillows are provided] two showers, two wash hand basins and a toilet. There is an additional toilet, shower and wash hand basin for persons with limited mobility. The cost is € 12 pp/pn. [There is and additional charge of €1-50c for bed sheet hire, if guests do not have their own sleeping bag or sheet.]

There is a double self-catering kitchen equipped with utensils, hobs, microwave ovens, sinks etc and a solid fuel range with an additional oven and cooking facilities. Utensils and instructions are available for cooking locally caught fish [salmon when in season] lobsters, crabs, mussels and oysters!

There are spectacular views available from a comfortable dining and lounge area, shared by all guests.
A private car park and cycle shed is available for guests. Cycle hire is also available - at hostel – at special rates for guests! Musical instruments may be borrowed for use in hostel from Margaret and Rodney.

We are Tourist Board Approved and are members of IHH and IHO [Hostel organizations]. We welcome any enquiries and will give advice on other local accommodation [if ours is not suitable] and the daily transport facilities to Malin Head from places like Dublin, Belfast, Letterkenny and Derry.

Malin Head is renowned for spectacular scenery, unhurried hassle free area, welcoming friendly community with bars and shops that do not close until 1am. Bar food and restaurant [open 9am to 9pm] facilities available all year. Walking routes are available at the hostel which highlight the local points of interest and facilities e.g. where to collect semi-precious stones, where to buy local fish etc., etc.
