Liked: Basic room was simple and clean, no frills. Good location on the northern end of the tourist area, 5-minute walk to the beach. Good places to eat within a few blocks, right near the night market. Right on target for the price.
Disliked: Water pressure in the shower went up and down (sometimes waaay down). Temple across the street played gamelan a few times a day, starting at 6am. Would recommend bringing earplugs.

Liked: A small guest house only a few rooms. Rooms are good quite comfortable. Room and the territory was clean.Staff is very friendly. Good place. There's a small breakfast. The beach is close.
Disliked: For us, it was noisy as next to the main street, a lot of bikes. Nearby is the local church and from there could be heard morning and evening prayers.

Liked: The owner was incredibly friendly, greeting me with a complimentary beer and arranging another room when I realised I had actually booked the wrong dates! The location is great - a very short walk from the beach, and surrounded by restaurants and bars. It is, however, set back from the main road behind a courtyard, so the rooms are very quiet . They rooms are newly refurbished, and cleaned every day, and their is a very cheap laundry service available if you ask the owner. The major centre for nightlife, Kuta, is a reasonably short and cheap taxi ride away, so if you want someone peaceful during the day, but access to the famous Bali club scene, this is a great place to stay.
Disliked: Nothing at all!

Liked: The owner was quite friendly and since there are only four rooms it was a great place to make friends with other travelers. We sat out under the bamboo awning over beers practically every night.
Disliked: The property was great, but Sanur is a destination for people that want to lounge on the beach,do water sports or drink and eat excessively.Transportation in Bali really sucks.Food and lodging are affordable and quite nice, but without 40-50 U.S. dollars a day you can't get around to visit all of the cultural sites.Even a bemo to Serengan island cost me 10 dollars to go see the turtles. This seems to be the only way lazy men in Bali can make money. There has got to be a better way.I am not going back soon and don't recommend Bali.Go to Thailand or Malaysia for the same kinds of things at an affordable price.
