Liked: Danielle and Juan are very helpful and friendly. Amazing views on the rooftop terrace, whether your having your breakfast or having a sleep on the hammocks!I think some reviewers might want to be closer to action, but it is really only max 10min walk to the centre and you get to see lots more on the way! I'm a female solo traveller and I felt safe at villa Esthela - definitely recommend!

Disliked: Nothing- wish I could have stayed longer!

Liked: The price is unbeatable. My room was small, but nice in that it included a dresser, shelving unit and bedside table and lamp. The roof terrace has an amazing view. The kitchen was adequate and being able to cook makes for even more money savings. Very conveniently located in the south (generally more quiet) part of town.

Disliked: Although it is not a party hostel, the sound does carry, and the rooftop bar is not exactly the definition of peace and quiet as other reviews lead me to believe the hotel would be very quiet. There was some noise from some discoteque somewhere nearby as well which wasn't enjoyable (this on a Monday and Tuesday- weekends might be worse). At least the clientele was 100% gringo so that noise was only at night (whereas if there had been Guatemalan clientele as well it would have been really loud from 5-8am as well, but that didn't happen). It was hard to get into the bathrooms as they tended to all be full, especially in the morning (not enough bathrooms for the number of guests). There is a lounge right next one of the single rooms and very close to a double room, so if you get either of those rooms, you're out of luck if you want to sleep.

Liked: The property is pretty laidback. Danielle at the front desk is very friendly. Actually everyone there is very friendly. They have very good rates for shuttle services. This is not a party hostel. So people looking for a quiet place will find this attrative. People looking for a party will be bored. They open a bar on some days of the week on the terrace but its fairly mellow.

Disliked: The rooms can be stuffy. there are no fans and all the doors are kept closed (for security ?). So if there are all 8 people sleeping in the dorms then the room can get really hot and stuffy. Some of the private rooms have windows towards the courtyard so I cant imagine they get a lot of sunlight. The rooms are fairly basic but clean. The heater in the showers are all in-line which means the water doesnt get very hot.

Liked: This is just a great hostel - everything you need. The staff was very helpful and helped me book tickets to El Savador. The rooftop terrace is also just excellent with a hammock to rest in and the volcanoes surrounding you. Beautiful. I ended up staying 3 extra nights.

Disliked: Hmm, nothing really
