About Hostel Manaus
Just three blocks from the famous Teatro Amazonas, two from the city center and one block from the city bus line - Hostel Manaus is the perfect base to explore this unique city and to prepare yourself for the mysteries of the surrounding Amazon jungle.
Hostel Manaus is on Rua Lauro Cavalcante, a quiet residential street set back from the noise of the thriving metropolis. Here the weary traveler can recuperate from a long journey, relaxing in the beer garden with fellow backpackers or enjoying the view of the famous Palacio Rio Negro from the roof top patio. With local family festivals held regularly at the end of the street, staying at Hostel Manaus gives you a taste of local Brazilian lifestyle with all the convenience of being close to the action of downtown.
Hostel Manaus is a heritage listed site, built during the rubber boom of the 19th century. With its high ceilings and chandeliers, it boasts space for forty beds, communal kitchen and washing facilities. Dormitory rooms have four to six beds, some with air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Private couple and single rooms are also available.
Hostel Manaus is the only hostel in the city affiliated with the HOSTELLING INTERNATIONAL group. Also recommended by The Lonely Planet, Footprints travel guide, Routard and featured on Discovery Channel's '5 Takes does Latin America'
Warning: Be aware of higher priced hotels now using similar names such as “Manaus Hostel Trip Tour”. To make sure you have arrived at the ORIGINAL Hostel Manaus, look for the HI symbol and Australian flag on the front door.
At the airport and on the bus, travelers may be approached by unauthorized tour operators offering 'information' on accommodation and jungle tours. Since Hostel Manaus does not recommend these operators to our guests, they may try to convince you not to stay here. Don’t be misled by false information. Hostel Manaus is a quality hostel, and has the reviews to show for it. Come and see for yourself why Hostel Manaus is the best value backpacker accommodation the city has to offer.
