Customer Travel Tip: Don't miss the beach. If you go in the evening, you'll find it is full of locals (although finding your way through the hundreds of parked motorbikes in front of it is a bit stressful). If you're staying for a night, use the chance to get something made (if you don't need a suit, you can go for some cheap custom shirt).
Liked: Beach, relaxed atmosphere, food (found a great seafood place next to the river), tailors (much better than in Hanoi).

Customer Travel Tip: Bargain and be prepared to walk away as there are many shops. The further away from the river the cheaper the pre-made clothes are and the more willing the shop keepers are to bargain.
Liked: Hoi An is a great place to get clothes made. But shop around and be careful to make sure they do a good job. If the shop owner is rude, there is enough competition for you to leave without paying. If paid a deposit, take the clothes and leave without paying the full amount.
Disliked: The tailor I went to was rude and didn't do a good job or finish the jacket properly. I should have stuck with the same tailor as the previous time I came to Hoi An but decided to try another as they had put their prices up. Hoi An has put all their prices up as a result of a drop in tourism.

Liked: Dubbed the Venice of Vietnam I completely understand why. I fell in love with Hoi an & added another 5 days to my stay. It exudes charm and an easy way of life & manages to intermingle culture, food, shopping, sight seeing & relaxing effortlessly. It's the kind of place you can be completely content to simply wander its beautiful old town streets.
