Customer Travel Tip: Don't spend more than a day; Cholon (Chinatown) is super-overrated and lame. The restaurants in the backpacker area are pretty bad- mostly just weird accretions of vietnamese and international cuisine i.e. when you walk in and the staff points out that you can order vietnamese, italian, thai, tex-mex, and pizza you know you should probably just turn around and walk out.

Liked: The war remnants museum was nice

Disliked: The pollution and the constant harassment from vendors. Also, the sites are not that great; more of a city experience than a site-seeing experience.

Customer Travel Tip: Just come! You're going to love it!

Liked: Bustling city, incredibly cheap drinks (alcoholic), lovely cuisine (might be acquired taste for European tastebuds but I love it!), insanely affordable taxi rides (if you're lazy to walk, you can cab everywhere). An amazing choice for a city break. There are also readily available buses to make short trips to the Mekong delta and up north to small and big cities beyond HCMC.

Disliked: The nonstop traffic meant a great but thrilling experience crossing the road everytime - we got used to it soon enough.

Customer Travel Tip: We flew in to HCMC first and travelled up to Hanoi, I would recommend it the other way round as Hanoi is smaller and has a more European feel to it so it is less of a culture shock. Then when you get to HCMC you are ready to take full advantage of the City. I would also recommend not booking excursions before you go, as these can be booked easily through your hotel and your operators at a much cheaper rate when you are there.

Liked: Enjoyed trips to the Mekong delta and Cu Chi tunnels. We also went on a street food tour with XO tours which was excellent.

Disliked: The city is so vast (37km wide and 11 million people) so it takes a long time to see it all!
