Customer Travel Tip: Spend the money for a car for at least a day or two. While the larger attractions are easily available via a bus and through tour companies some of the smaller sites are best visited on a loose schedule and are easily accessible only via an independent vehicle

Liked: The city is perfectly situared for anyone interested in ancient history and the cultural history of the Turkish republic. The winter weather made some travel questionable but still enjoyable without the crowds.

Disliked: Not really.

Backpacking / gap year Shopping Sightseeing & culture Sports, adventure or outdoor activities

Customer Travel Tip: For Ephesus, if you're not on a tour, it's best to rent an audio guide or the ruins around you will be meaningless. You only need 2-3 hours to see everything, so don't plan to have the whole day there. There are periodic market days, so try to time your visit if you can.

Liked: Easy to get to Ephesus - you can get a dolmus, but it's not too hard to walk either. Lots of little cafes and shops everywhere. Ephesus ruins are great for history buffs; the ruined library in particular was impressive.

Disliked: Ephesus only takes a half day, so not much reason to stay there for more than one night. Annoyed that you had to pay extra to see the tree houses.

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year Beach / sunbathing Romantic getaway Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Take a few hours to see Sirince, dont go to Efes around midday - way too crowded and HOT - go either early morning or late afternoon before it closes - go at 3 and you'll have plenty of time unless you want the see Mary's house which is a 9 km hike up the mountain!! AND STAY AT ATILLAS GETAWAY!

Liked: It was close to atilla's getaway, ephesus, and sirince - a beautiful little town in the hills about a 15 minute minibus trip - so worth the visit!

Disliked: our experience with one of the minibus drivers was unpleasant - he was rude and obnoxious and made us want to find another company - there wasnt another so we had to go with him. every other driver was great but one was horrible. Thats just personal experience and doesnt reflect on the town.

Customer Travel Tip: Ephesus is worth it.

Liked: It's a quiet place. It has a population of 32000, but it's very laid back. In mid August, there are tractors pulling loads of watermelon through the streets. There are a number of things to do within the city, or within a short (and cheap) dolmus ride: Ephesus, St. John's Basilica, Pamucak beach, the Ephesus Museum.
