Customer Travel Tip: I'd suggest to go for the shared taxi, instead of the official one. We did not have any problems with the shared ones and it's much cheaper. But still you should be careful.

Liked: Friendly people. Local food. Sunday School. The beach.

Customer Travel Tip: Hire a car

Liked: Buccoo Point is a beautiful location and the guesthouse is ideal for independent travellers. There are a number of scintillating beaches within easy reach eg. Pigeon Point, Store Bay, Stonehaven etc. Airport is not too far away.

21 May 2013

Customer Travel Tip: There's lots to do all around the south end of Tobago and Buccoo Point is fairly central. I ended up staying at Two Seasons Surf House hostel about 2km up the coast from Buccoo Point and loved it there!

Liked: sitting by the pier later in the afternoon as the fishermen returned and cleaned and sold their catch right at the pier.

Disliked: too many biting bugs

Trip Type:
Beach / sunbathing Relaxation / spa Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Buccoo Point is a small, rural village. I don't think it's for everyone as it's got a very local feel and isn't designed to cater to every whim of the average tourist. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, authentic and relaxed though, it's for you!

Liked: It's a small fishing village with a few restaurants and beaches. It's a very simple, relaxed town so it was easy to unwind and get used to the Caribbean pace of life.

Disliked: It can be a bit hard to find food at certain points during the day (e.g. Sunday 3pm) as there arent too many restaurants and those that are there have relatively strict opening times. Stick to the traditional eating times and you'll be fine. Whilst the beaches are really quiet, they definitely arent the white sands and turquoise waters one might expect in the Caribbean. Go to Pigeon Point instead for a beautiful, picturesque, more stereotypical beach.

Customer Travel Tip: In the late afternoons the fresh fish are prepared for sale on the jetty. Also in the afternoons you can photograph the crabs on the rocks in the corner by the kiosk for the boat tours. Because of Buccoo's westerly position, you can have a clear view of the sunset.

Liked: Small, quiet, friendly place. The locals are lovely; engage them in conversation otherwise you are missing out.
