Customer Travel Tip: Take sunscreen and an umbrella - you might need both on the same day! Also the walk from Gandria back to Lugano on the Olive Tree Trail is beautiful.

Liked: The views are stunning and when the weather was good, it was absolutely beautiful.

Disliked: There were storms when I was there which interrupted some of my sightseeing time - common at this time of year (June) apparently.

Customer Travel Tip: Hike up (or take the funicular) one (or all) of the surrounding mountains - San Salvatore, Bre, Boglia. They each offer spectacular views of Lugano & San Salvatore even has a via ferrata climb if you have the gear.

Liked: Lugano has great weather, good food, and is a great place to go and just relax and walk around. There are lots of good hikes up the surrounding mountains as well.

02 Aug 2014

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year

Customer Travel Tip: Research the place before you get there. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what to do only because there was so little information I could get my hands on!

Liked: It was a good change of pace and scenery. It didn't feel like Switzerland at all. I didn't get enough time there to write an accurate review of the place but with the little time I spent there, I was just looking at the lake, walking through the streets, and eating everything I could get my hands on.

Disliked: I didn't feel like there was much to do. Maybe I didn't seek out the right information or maybe I was there the wrong time of the year but it was just mostly relaxing and walking through the town. Oh, and a lake cruise.

Customer Travel Tip: if you take the tramway to go to Mount Salvatore, if you have time, i would recomend to take only a one-way ticket, just to go up. from the top of the hill there's some little ways to go down, surrounding the city, and many viewpoints.
