Customer Travel Tip: Plan travel in advance. I saved a lot of money by buying a half-fare card. Even though it cost CF110 I visited many places in Switzerland, using Bern as a base. In a week I went to Luzern and the travel card provided half-fare rail and lake steamship travel, visited the Valais for two days hiking, and went to Lauterbrunnen and half-fare cable car to Schilthorn. Including trams and return train to Geneva airport I saved over CF100 on the full fare. Plus the card is valid for a month.

Liked: Architecture, scenic landscape with river, bridges and distant mountains. Paul Klee museum.

Disliked: Not really, Bern is a very nice small city

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year

Customer Travel Tip: Prepare to bring more money than you think you will need because there is so much to enjoy here, but it's a bit pricey.

Liked: The city was not a large as I expected which was good because I didn't feel crowded. Everything here is beautiful and the walks through town are most charming. The architecture of the buildings is magnificent.

Disliked: It is so expensive.
