Customer Travel Tip: Go party at jungle beach. Sometimes they have a dj with good music, dancing in the sand and sea at such a great location: perfect. The tuk tuk drivers and the only bar in Fort Galle will let you know when there's a party going on. Shopping for western clothes (for a good purpose)? Go to Embark.

Customer Travel Tip: Take your time and enjoy. Some people think that it can be done in one day. I have visited Galle 6 times and it is still never enough. I discover something new each time I visit.

Liked: I like the hustle and bustle of Galle during the day. Once night time rolls around I like how the streets are so quiet and easy to walk around. It is a complete opposite from day to night. I enjoy walking around the ramparts early in the morning while local people are out exercising. Very friendly place to visit.

Disliked: It is sad to see that some of the old buildings are being torn down. The old Dutch style buildings need to remain in order for Galle to hold on to its character and charm

Customer Travel Tip: Walk around, don't take tuk-tuks because distances are too short. Visit other cities nearby to do snorkeling or simply chill out in the beach.Try vetegetable kottu on the beachside, it's cheap and really good.

Liked: Amazing architecture, beautiful tiny streets, nice beach landscapes. A place to relax for a weekend.

Disliked: Everything closes early inside the fort, ifyou're planning to go around to cities nearby you should note this.

Customer Travel Tip: Stay outside of the Fort.Save your money and take a local bus with the locals. It might not be comfortable, but you will save money and get some insight into what a typical Sri Lankan goes through on an everyday basis. You will have also had the same momentary glimpse into Europe's previous heinous treatment of a peaceful, simple people.

Liked: It is a very small place easily traversed in a half day trip. You can see old churches and mosques, museums and the remnants of the Portugese ramparts surround the peninsula.

Disliked: It has been made too pristine and luxurious. The expensive restaurants sit empty despite their fantastic appeal. There is a general lack of choices in the Fort. You can cross over into the new city by the bus station and eat with the locals for a fraction of the cost. This is the real experience in Sri Lanka. The Fort has is like a preserved museum of European oppression.
