Customer Travel Tip: Don't rush to use Irkutsk as a stopping off point for Lake Baikal. Spend at least 2-3 days here and enjoy what this great city has to offer. Also, you could do far worse than to stay at the Baikaler Hostel.

Liked: I love Irkutsk. The people are so friendly and welcoming. The city is big enough to provide variety but small enough to walk around and get lost in its history.

Disliked: No

Customer Travel Tip: Move through as quickly as possible. If travelling on the Trans-Siberian, the train is really much more enjoyable than the city.

Liked: Lake Baikal isn't far. But it isn't as good as it's hyped up to be either!

Disliked: The lack of atmosphere, the absence of much cultural, social or nightlife activities.

Backpacking / gap year Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Grab a map from the tourist center, and spend at least one day going around the city on foot (or bike, but I didn't see any bike rentals?)

Liked: Culture, nature -- you name it, they got it! Very cool place to visit as the city is an architectural gem in Siberia. Also a stone's throw away from the very beautiful Lake Baikal.

Customer Travel Tip: Don't miss Lake Baikal, but walk around Irkutsk: it's a lovely city, with lovely details and I really like the Museum of City Life. Very friendly people.

Liked: It is a lovely city with nice little spots but not so many sightseeing or cultural activities. The best we did was going on a day trip to lovely lake Baikal.

Customer Travel Tip: Visit Admiral hostel for your stay and do a excursion to the Baikal. We did it on our own, not the same experience..

Liked: Liked the fact that it was many options to do excursions! Even if we didn't have the time to go on anything now, its good to know that it is alot of things you can do instead of sightseeing on your own. And it is also good with summer and winter activities!

Disliked: The messy street with all the broken glass! And the wind with the sand! Ha,ha..
