Customer Travel Tip: Stay more than a day... travel sites and blogs recommend it as a day trip out of Lisbon but you really need to be there at least two days to appreciate everything there is to see.

Liked: Absolutely beautiful, walkable, with sights that were worth the time and money. It has an old-world, fairy tale charm and was very relaxing.

Disliked: It is very tourist oriented so you have to be careful about every restaurant ripping you off. Sidewalks are very small or nonexistent so walking to different locations on the road can be a little tricky with the traffic.

Customer Travel Tip: Don´t stay for more than a night unless you plan on seeing ALL the palaces and castles. The Moorish Castle is the only one worth visiting in my opinion. Be prepared for the trek up the mtn or take public transport.

Liked: The Moorish Castle is a must! Worth a trip.

Disliked: It is a touristy town center and then not much else in the surrounding area, but worth it for a night over or a day trip.

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Bring a coat if you go to Palacio Nacional de Pena or Castelo dos Mouros, because it's cold and windy even early august.

Liked: A lot of sightseeing easy to reach by walk from the center, many castle, palaces and parks. Not too crowded and expensive attractions. Excellent Franceshina at the restaurant right in front of the Sintra train station.

Disliked: Restaurants expensive, Cafe de vila in front of Palacio Nacional de Sintra is disgusting and the vegeterian menu is rubbish (mixted salad and soup of the day). Dead city by night.
