Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year Beach / sunbathing Relaxation / spa Sightseeing & culture Sports, adventure or outdoor activities

Customer Travel Tip: You definitely have to go to Huanchaco!

Liked: There is definitely a lot of culture here in Trujillo! You can visit Chan Chan which was made by the Chimú and there is also the culture of Moche which made the beautiful Huaca del Sol and Huaca de la Luna! There are also a lot of museums where you can learn much more about the different cultures that lived here. Well, Huanchaco (20 min. away from Trujillo and the place where I stayed) is a paradise for Surfers and all other people that love the beach and the ocean! You can do a lot of sport here, there are good surfing schools. And it is great weather :)

Disliked: Well, there is a lot of poverty and people begging on the street. One time a woman came to me and asked for money and as I didn't want to give her money she was mad and hit me with her cup... But you know, that can happen anywhere here in Perú.

Trip Type:
Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Go on the side streets in the city center. Pizarro is the main drag, so it's the most touristy. The other streets have some very cool little bars and restaurants for an inexpensive, more authentic experience. Make sure you get out to Chan Chan (you don't need to go with a tour, but you can hire a guide there if you want some more history), it's really cool!

Liked: It's small, so it's a nice escape from the big city of Lima. It's also really cheap, you can find daily menus inside the Av. España circle for S/5. The people are really friendly too!

Disliked: No particular dislikes. You will get a better cultural experience if you stay off of Pizarro.

Disliked: Didn't seem ti find an area with cafes/bars/restaurants, all the ones we found looked like sandwich places

Customer Travel Tip: If you don't have much time an want to see much- take a day tour! In 8 hours you can see most of the cultural sights outside of Trujillo and also get valuable information.

Liked: Really cool town- I like how everything is concentrated in the center of the city- hostels, restaurants, sightseeing, partying, walks! You don't have to spend money on taxis to get around.

Disliked: Oh, boy, the taxi drivers are driving me nuts with the constant honking...Here everyone drives like insane- beware for your life!

Customer Travel Tip: Stay in the centre of the city with everything within walking distance.

Liked: Very nice colonial centre perfect to wander round. Some very interesting colonial houses to visit - guides explaining everything very much in detail.
