Travel Type:

Trip Type:
Sports, adventure or outdoor activities

Customer Travel Tip: Definitely give yourself time to relax by the pool, the weather is hot and sunny in the afternoon. Make sure you do a sand boarding and dune buggy tour too!

Liked: Sand boarding and dune buggy tour was so fun! Relaxing by the pool was also a nice way to pass the afternoon.

Disliked: There aren't a lot of great food options. There is no grocery store in Huacachina to do self catering and the restaurants are all expensive, even though they aren't very nice. Because it's a tourist area, the prices are 3x what they normally are elsewhere.

Customer Travel Tip: Avoid the far corner of the lake where Bananas Hostel and Carola Del Sur are located. It seems to be the corner where everyone is trying to rip you off. There is an amazing hostel on the side called Sunset Huachachina. Super clean, nice owners and workers, and fans in the room!

Liked: The lake and scenery were beautiful. I also loved the hostel we stayed at our second night, Sunset Huachachina. They offered free sand boards to use, which we also really liked.

Disliked: Carola Del Sur Hostel. It was full of creepy men, and an extremely rude Manager, Tony. The room was dirty and unbearably hot, and I was eaten alive by some sort of bug. I also didn't like that every tour company talks trash about the other. You never knew who you could trust there and who you couldn't. One local tour operator we met has a reputation for roofying girls drinks. The name he told us was Mr. Llama. We were not sure if this was true, until we read a review that a girl had her drink roofied by a local tour guide. It couldn't have been a coincidence.
