City break Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Do your research. Visit some Panama Blogs and watch some YouTube selections, then order some books from Amazon.com.

Liked: What a charming place! It is really different here from the hustle and bustle of the city. We like the rural atmosphere, even the cattle and chickens and the dogs that lay around here and there. The town center area is a busy place but there is still parking available up and down the main street. The people are very friendly. The expat community has a noticeable presence here.

Disliked: No street signs. Yet the people are helpful with their descriptions of where to go and how to get there. Many people here speak English to varying degrees.

Customer Travel Tip: I did the Vulcano by night tour, offered by Hostel Mamalena. For 5 dollar, they drive you to the entrance of the Vulcano Park at midnight, you can climb up during the night to see the sunrise. The climbing was hard (14 km, 2000 m height difference), but definitely worth it. The path is easy to recognize, bring a torch and warm clothes, since it is getting cold at the summit (3400m)

Liked: beautiful landscape, nice people, not so hot as the coast.

Customer Travel Tip: Stay at Hostal Nomba, and bring hiking stuff with you. Also bring a warm coat and clothing if you want to climb Volcan Baru. And make sure you do the Three Waterfalls trail, which is absolutely beautiful.

Liked: Small enough to walk around, very pretty town. People all around and plenty to do once you find out about what's on offer.

Disliked: There are a lot of expats and tourists and I do sometimes prefer a more local experience. But in the end I was able to have both.
