Customer Travel Tip: Be an informed, responsible tourist and come and enjoy this stunningly beautiful part of the world! (NZ$ is cheap !) Get to know locals in mountain bike/ski/tramp groups and they will teach you about earthquake safety and partake in as many activities as you can.

Liked: Beautiful city, in an incredibly gorgeous part of the world. If you like nature and the outdoors, get involved in this city. Read about it, research what is happening and what has happened, but certainly don't not visit because of stupid media reports. Talk to people and find out from New Zealanders how/where to go etc. Tip: start in Auckland and learn about NZ then catch train down Notth Usland so that you can get used to the country before landing in Christchurch green and unaware. Apparently there's been aftershocks while I've been here but I haven't even felt them. Check out www.christchurchnz.com for activities and groups you can join to help out around town (Student Army on Facebook)

Disliked: That they are suffering from stupid media reports and I'll-informed reports regarding tourism and the safety of the country.

Customer Travel Tip: If you want to eat out anywhere Riccarton is the place to go. The fox & ferret pub had great food and was re commended to us.

Liked: Although I have answered negatively it us only because truthfully there was nothing going on there when we were there due to the earthquake devastation. When up and running again I am sure christchurch would be an exciting and beautiful city.

Disliked: There wasn't anything we could do as everything was closed.

Customer Travel Tip: Canterbury Museum, Botanical Garden

Liked: I really liked the positive attitude of Christchurch's people even after the terrible earthquakes, nobody seems to have given up, everybody seems to contribute to the reconstruction of the city centre. Even if so much is still destroyed and fenced, you definitely should visit Christchurch!

Disliked: Big parts of Christchurch outside the historical district are not that beautiful.

Customer Travel Tip: Orana wildlife park was absolutely amazing. they have a lot of volunteers with a great amount of knowlegde always willing to help. it is not 5 star there but if you love animals you will appreiciate how much this park loves their animals and for the price ($25) you really cant beat an amazing day out. we paid the extra ($30) for the lion encounter totally worth it. i rate this place better then the antartic centre.

Liked: The feeling of support eachother in the community of christchurch after the quake.

Disliked: It was hard to know what was and wasn't operating and how to get around with all the closures, the city is doing a great job as getting themselves on their feet but as a tourist that had never been there before i felt some sort of website/advertisement as to where people are recommended to go other than the red zone i.e. what resturants are running in the city.
