Customer Travel Tip: With the friendly environment, take a leap and adventure on a walk to areas that aren't always covered by tour guides. You might be able to find a nice restuarant to eat at surrounded by local Moroccoans.

Liked: There is a lot of culture, with a new-mixed with old feeling as the changes in scenery can go from Modern french to local Moroccoan quickly.

Disliked: NA

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: go see the mosque, and skip the hammam (as it is as any other hammam anywhere else). buy Maroccan cookies a lot!

Liked: Casablanca has really only one sight, which is the mosque. For the rest you can basically hang around in some cafes or restaurants, but this is what you can do anywhere else. The beach could be a good idea, if you spend more time in the city.

Disliked: nothing special that I dislike, it is just an economic centre

Customer Travel Tip: Don't stay, if you must, pay no more than 30DH from Casa Voyageur to the port for a taxi and get the meter on. Don't let them say otherwise. Watch out for touts. People just practicing English, students, Expeditions, etc.... Most all scams.

Liked: Cheap flights into and out of Morocco.

Disliked: Touts everywhere, taxi drivers lie constantly, even after you establish a fair price before and let them no no detours. They won't let you take your bags out without paying more.

Customer Travel Tip: I recommend getting a french phrasebook.

Liked: The Mosque was fantastic and good location right on the beach! The food was delicious - try the traditional Moroccan Tagines.

Disliked: It isn't easy to navigate around when you are by yourself. Make sure as a woman you wear conservative clothing as many men will yell out to you. It is not dangeous though in my experience - you just have to ignore them.

Travel Type:

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: I made a deal with a friendly cab driver upon arrival, and he gave me a private tour and was my guide for the time I was in Casa. I would highly recommend arranging this, as I received a "native's" view of the place and the culture, and I made a friend I will keep touch with in the future. Also, being North American, I had to visit Rick's Cafe, an American-owned restaurant/tourist trap. I was very impressed with the food, the service, and the decor. Thoroughly enjoyable for the movie buff!

Liked: Casa is a modern city, and I enjoyed the open nature of the people & the availability of modern facilities it provides.

Disliked: It is a fairly dirty place, with no recycling program apparent, and very few public garbage cans available. Lots of pollution - litter, air, noise.
