Backpacking / gap year

Customer Travel Tip: By all means visit both but do not confuse Cholula and City centre, they have almost identical street names, in the same sequence too.

Liked: I didn'texpect much, originally seeing it as a gap city between Mexico City and Oaxaca but during this trip we went to Pueblo twice, once to Cholula, another to Citycentre, both magnificant and culture filled in their own rights. We also shopped the most in this city at El Pariah and Cholula. Very charming town, history (check out Casa Serdan for where the Mexican revolution fired its first shot, the people who worked in the museum is amazingly friendly and we were given an impromptu tour by their cleaning staff, a knowledgeable and passionate man), and friendly people. Definite recommend.

Disliked: There was brief thunderstorms and shower during our September travel, they'really relatively brief though.

Customer Travel Tip: Los fuertes (even better by night) is a good place to have a great overlook over the city. The city centre as well is a nice place to hang out or eat.

Liked: The city centre of puebla has a nice warm atmosphere. The zocalo of puebla is one of the most beautiful centres which i've seen in mexico. There are quiet some places to discover and its definitly worth to travel to.

Disliked: Puebla do not offer that much possibilites to do some shopping. The mall angelopolis is quiet nice, but its about 30 minutes by bus. As well puebla itself do not offer many possibilites to party, but cholula which is a 30 minute bus ride, is full of bars and clubs and you can have a nice time overthere.

Customer Travel Tip: Try a mole poblano at Fonda de Santa Clara restaurant and the many street food vendors that sell molotes, memelas, tinge, chanclas, cemitas, etc.

Liked: The food (!!!), the colonial city center, the MA museum, the cathedrals, the party in zocalo for Christmas, the outdoor vendors, etc.

Disliked: There was a lot of police with riot gear around. Not particularly a dislike, but it was curious

Customer Travel Tip: go to Tlaxcala, Cholula and then move on.

Liked: the plaza at Xmas and New Years is very lively. the artists section at el period is nice.

Disliked: the police are dangerous. three in a police truck kidnapped two students we were traveling with, took everything they had on them and after a harrowing ride face down in the pickup they were put off at the far end of the city to find their way back to the plaza. 11:30pm-4am. after you see Cholula, el Perian, and the zocalo there isn't much else to do in Puebla.

Customer Travel Tip: Try to plan your visit to Include one Sunday as there are many markets for arts and crafts.

Liked: I absolutely loved Puebla for so many reasons. The kindness of the people being the first. It is such a beautiful city to walk easily around and visit the many museums, art galleries, cathedrals and learn the history of Peubla. The zocolo is a vibrant center of activities; be it musical events or artists- there is always something happening. Lastly, Peubla has so many amazing restaurants with a variety of superb regional dishes and also great budget friendly food street vendors. Many choices and a gastronomical delight. I was so impressed with all this city has to offer. As a solo woman traveller, I felt completely safe. I would highly recommend visiting and will be back.
