Backpacking / gap year Beach / sunbathing Sightseeing & culture Sports, adventure or outdoor activities

Customer Travel Tip: Go to Playa del Carmen and take the ferry over to Cozumel.

Liked: It is a dive capital with the great reef. Long walking paths along the shoreline. Beautiful flowers and birds.

Disliked: Hard to get to the archaeological ruins without taking a complete expensive island tour. Everything is geared toward divers and cruise passengers. The vendors in the shopping zones are very aggressive . The cruise ships dump 20,000 tourist a day into downtown.

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year Beach / sunbathing Romantic getaway Sightseeing & culture Sports, adventure or outdoor activities

Customer Travel Tip: Eat at the local restaurants, stay away from the main touristy spots for cheaper eats and u must hire a scooter to have a proper look around.

Liked: We went scuba diving in Palancar from the guys at playa Palancar they were cheap but very good, we had 2 dives for 90 US with all your gear (except wetsuits, which they dont have but u dont really need the water is so warm even at 30m deep.) We hired a moped from the guy near the supermarket along the water front (not the mega, but the other one) we got ours for 15 US a day he wanted 20 and we got a half day free cos it was already 2 in the arvo. We spent a week here and loved it, we found heaps of cheap local restaurants to eat at for around 200 for 2 with a coke each.

Disliked: The constant hassling by the shop, restaurant, taxis and bar owners, can understand why because its the low season but its till a pain in the arse.
