Customer Travel Tip: Drink arabic coffe and try some lebanese food. Go for a trip to Ba´albak for its amazing roman temple ruins. Neighbouring Byblos is worth checking out for a more touristic-resort like experience, and has also some cool roman ruins worth checking out.
Liked: Interesting place with a lot of history, and there west meets the east. The food is nice, and the beach is not to bad. Sure worth a day and too if youre in Lebanon, but I think all that is worth to see can be seen in about 1-1,5 day.
Disliked: Crappy city planning, where many buildings are placed to close to each other in some places. Chaotic traffic. Political tensions which result in a lot of military precense in Beirut and whole Lebanon in general. This can off course be interesting for an adventuring backpacker.

Customer Travel Tip: use Beirut as a base and get a local taxi guide to take you out on day trips to see the ruins at Baalbek, the grotto at Jeita , Tripoli, Sidon & Tyre, hanging out at the beach in Byblos and anything else you wish to do. In the winter the skiing is good too! Beirut has great nightlife and restaurants, so a great place to hang out after a long day sightseeing. You can walk Beirut on foot easily - Hamra or Gemmazye areas of Beirut are the best to stay in with a vibrant food and bar scene.
Liked: the people, the food, the weather and the crazy mad driving. beautiful ruins out at Baalbek and chilling on the beach at Byblos.
