Trip Type:
Sightseeing & culture Visiting friends or family

Customer Travel Tip: Be sure to take the one day cruise down the Brenta Canal from Padua to Venice. You see stunning Rennaissance Villas, a good lunch is included and you enter Venice and the Basin of St Mark from the sea - which is the only way to approach Venice which does justice to the wonder of the place. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the cruise is discounted to only € 59 which represents really outstanding value for the whole day

Liked: The beauty of the city, the Art and Architecture. Also very compact and easy to navigate on foot. The staff at the Tourist Info Office at the Railway Station were outstandingly helpful and friendly

Disliked: The almost unbearable heat (this was an especially hot heatwave in August) That's obviously not the fault of the place ! One really bad experience utterly pissed me off. Paid 13 Euros for entry ticket to see the Giotto Frescoes at the Scrovegni Chapel. Nobody at the ticket office explained the very strict timed entry system and that you have to arrive at least 5 or 10 minutes before the time shown on your ticket. I arrived a few seconds after the 6:45 cohort went in and they would not let me in at 7:00 pm even though there were places. And of course no refund - so 13 Euros thrown away for nothing and a long walk and wait in boiling heat. The museum staff had a very inflexible, unfriendly and bullying attitude - the worse kind of "producer sovereignty" I had wanted to see these frescoes for 43 years and may never get another chance, so I was naturally bitterly dissapointed
