Customer Travel Tip: Spend a day in the touristy centre and do all the beautiful sites there, then leave. There's so much more to the city, especially across the river - check out Santo Spirito in the evening and the Michelangelo Piazza (it's worth the walk). There's also beautiful countryside in the surrounding area, and some really cool abandoned buildings if you're willing to do a bit of searching.

Liked: Santa Fiera, and going to the top of the dome The lookout at Michelangelo's Piazza Gelati. Ohhhhhh gelati!

Trip Type:

Customer Travel Tip: If you want to go to the Uffizi Gallery or Galleria Academia, book ahead, or arrive about half an hour before it opens, to avoid long lines. I arrived about 7.45 to each over two mornings, waited half an hour in a reasonably short line with w book in the cool of the morning, and got in as soon as it opened. Booking ahead has an additional booking fee (4 euros I think) but means you turn up at your time and get straight in. Also, for nice views over the city, the Piazza Micahelangeo had good views, but is really just a glorified carpark. If you continue a bit further up the hill to the church, you get a lovely setting and lovely views all in one (without the street sellers)!

Liked: Clean, historic, beautiful old town! Lots to do, most within walking distance.

Disliked: As with any major tourist destination, lots of street sellers selling selfie sticks.

Customer Travel Tip: Book stuff in advance if you're not keen waiting in lines.

Liked: Fairly easy to get around and central to Tuscany.

Disliked: Saw a bit of crime (thefts, fighting, etc) so felt a little unsafe at times. But I think these were localised occurrences. Also some of the lines are a bit ridiculous (3 hour wait to enter the Museum).

Customer Travel Tip: Splurge on seeing the big sights like the David and Uffizi Gallery!

Liked: Because it is the birthplace of the Renaissance, this city is filled with classic Italian charm and culture. The size of the city is bearable, but it's still big enough to come alive in the evenings and really welcome you. There's so much gorgeous art to experience, and good shopping, too. Overall great city.

Disliked: Only that I had stayed longer.

Customer Travel Tip: If you have time, try out the Tuscany in a day tour. It's ran by my tours, and is a long day but you get siena, San Gimignamo, Pisa and a great wine tasting experience. Great tour.

Liked: The culture and the history. It is jaw dropping just wandering around the city, soaking up the atmosphere. They have preserved the past better than most other cities. Make sure you go to piazzale Michelangelo to watch the sunset,it has stunning views of the city.

Disliked: Getting to the top of the duomo (the cupola, or dome) was a bit of a nightmare : the cathedral was built over 500 years ago and want designed for the amount of visitors it receives today. However the view from the top is pretty spectacular.
