Customer Travel Tip: We used a driver as we had little time, so don't know about other possible options.

Liked: Some very cheap places to eat. Interesting to visit Red Terror Martyrs Memorial Museum and Holy Trinity Cathedral with Haile Selassie Museum.

Disliked: It was quite rainy and cold in August, but fine if you have the right clothes (similar to UK).

Customer Travel Tip: Only change your currency in banks and not other outlets as you may get a rip off and not get value for your money.

Liked: The people of Addis Abada presented as quite friendly people and I did not feel threatened.

Disliked: The construction of road and buildings made travelling around Addis Ababa quite challenging. I was also shocked as to the number of beggers in Addis Ababa's street.

Trip Type:
Romantic getaway

Customer Travel Tip: Get to know the currency and basic costs of things before you get there if at all possible because the economy is so cheap you don't even realise you are being charged double or even treble!

Liked: The city itself is quite compact and you can walk quite safely from one area to the next although taxis are very cheap. Addis is blessed with many beautiful churches and has a fantastic Christian culture. Living is very cheap here, prices for everything very low - even with the doubling up for visitors or ferengy as they say!

Disliked: Too much poverty and too many fast ones being pulled....as soon as I stepped off the plane I was tricked by a guy helping me to get a taxi - he said it would be 350 birr which I gave him but when I arrived at my destination the taxi driver said he had not been paid so I had to pay another 350 birr.....Watch your bags and pockets at all times too!

Trip Type:
City break Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Stay away from litle innocent looking kids who ask for money ! They may look cute and are definetely not older than 6. They picked my pocket clean !

Liked: if you're looking for a party place - this is not it. Addis has it's own thing going on and the people make it all the more special. Ethiopia was never colonized so there are no 'pockets' here - no french quarters, no loud expats in 4x4s. Pure african and very unique with their orthodox church culture. Local transport is dirt cheap.

Disliked: Nothing really.

Customer Travel Tip: I will advise all of you to prefer walking Whenever you can't walk, take a local taxi which comes very handy and cheap. Don't eat at big restaurants, they often loot you.... Don't drink water from outside, so always prefer drinking water from branded mineral water bottles only

Liked: People are very friendly Place has wonderful weather all year around, and has some of the beautiful places to visit Is a storehouse of one of the ancient civilizations of the world It is an optimistic representation of Africa

Disliked: So many people begging at different points, and children following you everywhere was particularly concerning, though not a matter of disgust or anything....
