Customer Travel Tip: Try the buses, they are easy to navigate and only .20. El Iglesia del Rosario is open at odd times, but definitely worth a glance at. We asked around and people told us it opened at 2, 3, or 5. We went close to 5pm and ended up getting there right before they closed!

Liked: San Salvador was a surprise with its arts scene. Visiting the art museums and El Iglesia del Roario were are highlights for sure. But we also enjoyed our little interactions with everyone; from street vendors to taxi drivers, Guanacos are very friendly.

Disliked: El Centro is a little gritty, another reason to make your lodging in another area.

Customer Travel Tip: keep photo copy of id's, don't go in sketched areas, have fun!

Liked: I liked the fact that it was cheap

Disliked: It was dangerous or seemed so in many areas, it's 25 bucks each way to and from the airport. I can't give an all out honest opinion cause it was holy week and majority of people were out of town.

Customer Travel Tip: The Rosario Church is...interesting. Also carry small-denomination money as you might not get change for a big note.

Liked: With a bit of basic Spanish it is easy to get around cheaply on the local buses, enjoy local streetfoods, and see the historical sights. We spent one day in the historical centre and saw most of it, it the National Palace is very informative on the city history and a nice place to visit. Two or three days should be sufficient to see everything of interest.

Disliked: Due to the prevalence of gun crime and (possibly over-hyped) warnings that western tourists should no venture out at night alone / take taxis instead of walking etc we did not find it a particularly relaxing city to visit. There are a lot of armed private security guards on the street which acts as a constant reminder. Apart from that though it's a very nice city to spend a few days.
