Customer Travel Tip: La shokra (no thank you in Arabic) for all the restaurant and store sellers who are constantly trying to get you into their shop/eatery. And mosquito repellent or net. Do all the activities you can, try eat out, support this wonderful country and promote it when you get back home. Our news and tourism doesn't always portray the correct assumptions about this beautiful place. Try learn some Arabic words - it will get you a long way when haggling over prices.
Liked: After travelling around Egypt it was a welcome break to go to a city in Egypt that seems to be on the up. The streets are much cleaner and animal free (probably because it is mainly a tourist holiday destination). It's not as crowded in Sharm and the locals seem to be more used to foreign travellers and our ways, and so don't hassle you quite as much when browsing and shopping.
Disliked: There didn't seem to be a lot of local culture around. Maybe it's all on the ourskirts away from the tourist places. I didn't hear any mosques ringing out, and saw few locals homes. Sharm just seemed to me a purely tourist destination - which is great if that's what you want in a holiday.

Customer Travel Tip: If you want to buy anything shop at the Carr four supermarket the prices are displayed and it is far cheaper then any where else. .
Liked: I liked been in Egypt but it is a country of extremes. You get ripped off and people give you free things in their coffee bar etc.
Disliked: Yes, one place charged me and two divers 45 English pounds for four cups of tea, a coke and a small bottle of water. You have to be very careful where you shop as prices are just made up.

Customer Travel Tip: You won't be experiencing true Egypt but if a beach full of tourists is what you want then you might enjoy Sharm.
Liked: There are lots of beaches and restaurants. The snorkeling trips are fantastic.
Disliked: Sharm is very tacky and touristy. Having traveled the rest of Egypt I would say that Sharm retains none of the true Egyptian culture or character. Sharm is very different and very European in its restaurants/ clubs/ prices. The people here just want to hassle tourists for money.

Customer Travel Tip: Some of the restaurants try to sneakily overcharge you on the bill, so double check and don't be afraid to point out the real prices written on the menu, the real amount of tax as written on the menu or the price you negotiated. They always backed down quickly and charged the proper price. You can negotiate prices at restaurants before you enter/sit down due to the amount of competition. A shisha can be bargained down to 10 Egyptian pounds in some places yet if you don't haggle at all you may find yourself paying 5 times that. Beware taxi drivers at the airport and bus station. Some will agree a very reasonable price only to stop halfway in the middle of nowhere, ask where exactly your hotel is and then charge a lot more to take you the rest of the way. Make sure they have seen your exact hotel address beforehand.
Liked: Lots to do, such as scuba, desert trips or just relaxing on the beach. Shisha can be haggled down to around 10 Egyptian pounds (1 UK pound) and coffee or tea to not much more. Good place to relax.
Disliked: Not great nightlife beyond chilling out with shisha and eating dinner. Some places had really watered down beer.
