Trip Type:
Beach / sunbathing

Age Range:
31-40

Customer Travel Tip: go somewhere else: belize, mexico, jamaica, bahamas, southeast asia. The Punta Cana airport is the most chaotic mess of an international airport as I have seen with bottleneck after bottleneck. I would recommend you make your travel time worthwhile., but that I mean you will not miss much by skipping the Dominican.

Liked: The beach is nice

Disliked: It gets pretty boring unless you are staying at an all inclusive resort. There is not much to do in the town other than go to the beach, smoke weed or drink.

Trip Type:

Customer Travel Tip: Paying in pesos will often get you a better deal than paying in dollars. Take advantage of the easy bus link to Santo Domingo.

Liked: Beautiful beach, easy to lose track of time.

Disliked: It's just a bit far away from everything else in the DR - if you want to use Punta Cana as a base you definitely need to hire a car.

Customer Travel Tip: Don't buy coke, or prostitution - kill that market, so that desperate people will stop asking you if you want it. Taking advantage of them that way, is just bad business.

Liked: Travelers are always very fun people to interact with.

Disliked: There are a lot of people doing whatever they can to survive there. I wish that the socioeconomic situation was better distributed - that will take some time, effort, etc...

Trip Type:
Events / festivals Romantic getaway Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: This is a beautiful place to relax and do nothing... Personally, the perfect place to layover between exploring the rest of the DR. Don't plan to spend more than 2 days here-- you will run out of things to do!

Liked: The beaches are beautiful! Around the beach, there are several nice bars, cafes, and restaurants owned and operated by ex-pats-- a bit overpriced, but nice to hang out at.

Disliked: Honestly, there wasn't much to do... If you dig spending all day at the beach lounging around, this is totally your place. If you dig hikes, day trips, meeting locals, etc, not so much. The beach is dominated by all-inclusive resorts, and the local tourism industry caters to this crowd: overpriced glass-bottom boat tours, booze cruises, beach weddings, etc.

Trip Type:
Visiting friends or family

Customer Travel Tip: Come here if you have a fair amount of money to spend and you want to be comfortable. Otherwise, take any guagua to a more real Dominican town or city. I recommend Punta Rucia. Excellent, low key, real.

Liked: It was clean, safe, and had beautiful beaches. It does what it is supposed to do...be a tourist zone.

Disliked: It is not the Domincan Republic at all. Depending on the type of travel that you want to do, this might or might not be the place for you. For me, looking to see the real lives of Dominicans and their true culture, this was not the place at all. I feel like I am in a different country. It is very nice, it is not a cultural experience by any means.
