Trip Type:

Customer Travel Tip: Be aware the general ticket to access historical buildings only allows access to the wall and gate towers once so can't visit all the towers and, at least when I was there you can't walk along the wall to other towers.

Liked: Everything readily accessible...great to stay in the midst of history. Only a few nightclubs so some atmosphere remains at night unlike many other similar places I've been to in China but there are some night club type options. It lived up to its hype. Plenty of public toilets around.

Customer Travel Tip: Stay within the ancient city walls. It's a completely difffernt experience inside and outside.

Liked: Ancient city was quintessential China. Paved streets, lanterns. Some streets were blocked off for cars and bikes which made walking around safe. Street food just outside the ancient walls was amazing!

Disliked: You could only buy a joint pass to walk the city walls and see all the sights and it was a bit expensive (150rmb). We climbed the great wall for less!

Customer Travel Tip: This must be the moment of you trip when you want to calm down, wake up late and relax. A delightful parenthesis in a truly unique place !

Liked: An authentic old city within its walls, where people still live like their ancestors did. Probably the best experience you could find around there of the chinese ancient style way of life. As it's getting more touristic, be sure it's from now kept away from oblivion...

Disliked: If you don't plan one-day trips from Pingyao, don't expect to have things to see after one full day hanging out in the ancient town.

Customer Travel Tip: Definitely rent a bicycle and ride around the city. Day in Pingyao might be a bit sleepy, but during the night the city is really lively

Liked: The cultural and historical part was nice, the possibility of renting a bicycle was great. The old city wall is a jem, and the "speical beef / noodles" taste great!

Disliked: Two or three days in this destination will be enough because afterwards you could get a bit bored. But it i definitely worth visiting.
