Customer Travel Tip: Have everything written down in Pinying – restaurants, attractions, etc. That way you can show it to someone and they can point you in the right direction.

Liked: The history, culture, temples, hutong and food. The train system is fantastic too!

Disliked: 25Y to catch the airport express – if you're with a group it's probably more affordable to catch a taxi there. Signs are rare, often you have to stumble upon what you're looking for. Entry fees are huge compared to the rest of China.

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year Sightseeing & culture Sports, adventure or outdoor activities

Customer Travel Tip: Be prepared for a shock of culture and the hygiene being non-existant. And make sure you don't show weakness onnthe subway, you need to push people everywhere as you will be pushed from every direction. And finally Sunday is a day of freedom for everyone so there will be loads of people everywhere!

Liked: Huge city with a million and one things to do. The public transport is amazing and very easy to navigate as a foreigner. The food in Beijing is definitely a must. Some restaurants you should avoid, look for busy ones with loads of locals! There are many many sights tonsee from the Summer palace to the temple of heaven. I loved Beijing!

Disliked: The lack of hygiene and cleanliness is very apparent. Spitting every two seconds, people throw rubbish on the floor when bins are nearby, a majority of the women are rude and barge you out of the way. Queues don't exist as everyone pushes you out of the way and the underground is a fight of the strongest. Be prepared to push people!!

Customer Travel Tip: Get a map as soon as you get there. If you like walking, a lot of places are within walking distance of a lot of the hostels, if you have a map to show you where to go. The street map of the city center is easy to follow. Have a supply of coffee, tea... because most hostels and hotels give free boiled water to make drinks etc.

Liked: Lots of things to see and do, and lots of places to relax. Good public transport in the city and good hub for travelling out to other places and cities.

Disliked: Dishonest taxi drivers. Scams involving trying to trick tourists into paying too much or buying things they don't want to buy. Air pollution. Too much plastic packaging on items in shops. Spitting.
