Customer Travel Tip: Just go! Allow enough days to get out and see some stuff. The town is just a base to get out and explore. My hostel wasn't the cheapest but at short notice they arranged all my excursions apart from the star gazing, but still recommended somewhere for me that was brilliant. Bring appropriate clothes. By day it can be scorching, but with all mountain weather things change. Geysers trip before sunrise the temperature was -20!!!

Liked: What a wonderful place. The geology of the area makes for an amazing experience. The people are friendly and it doesn't feel like everyone is trying to rip you off. The mountains, volcanos, salt flats valleys, all within striking distance of such a small town, a truly special place!

Disliked: Its not Beverley Hills, expect dirt roads and roaming dogs (which are all friendly) but bark a lot at night.

Customer Travel Tip: Is not necessary for you to take all the tours there are out there. Some are quite expensive and you can rent a car at the airport and do the trips by yourself. You manage your own time in each place wich is totally valuable for me.

Liked: Actually I love everything in San Pedro. From the hostal, the town, the sightseen places, the people. Eveyrthing was just great, I actually wanted to stay forever! :) Totally recommended if you are visintg Chile, you should go to San Pedro no doubt.

Disliked: Not really

Trip Type:
Backpacking / gap year

Customer Travel Tip: There is a restaurant near the bus station that's local and cheap. - Walk away from the bus station with the play park on your left and bus station on your right. Then take the first left down a dead end road. Two minutes down there is a cheap restaurant with local food. That's good value and yummy.

Liked: We liked that you can use the town as a base for the amazing sites in the Atacama. We would recommend that you hire a car and do the sites yourself. It's about the same price and cheaper with 4 of you. That way you can get to all the sites without so many tourists.

Disliked: It's an overpriced town for what you get. It has nearly western prices on food and drink and it's hard to find back packer prices.

Customer Travel Tip: Make sure that you take a jeep tour to Uyuni. The second priority is visiting the Valley of the Moon.

Liked: I really loved it. It feels like the village in the middle of nowhere that it is.

Disliked: It is quite touristy, although that didn't really bother me much, to be honest.

Customer Travel Tip: Bargain and try to manage all the trips with just one agency. Some tripa u can do with bike - laguna cejar, valle de la luna, el quitor and quebrada del diablo.

Liked: All the trips - valle de la muerte, de la luna, laguna cejar, la quebrada del diablo and the astronomic tour. The local fruit market helped US to have low cost meals.

Disliked: Food and meals are extremely expensive, get a hostel where you can cook! Impossible to find low cost places to have a nice dinner or lunch.
