Customer Travel Tip: Catch the local bus for just $800 CP to Puerto Varas. It takes 20 minutes.

Liked: Different town to other places in Chile, not touristy and more industrial feel to it. Easy access to Chiloe or Puerto Varas from here.

Disliked: Not much to do activity wise but can catch the local bus along the coastline to more interesting areas.

Customer Travel Tip: Just relax. Puerto Montt is not a city where there is a ton to do but it's kind of fun to wander around, see Angelmo, eat some good food, get some drinks, catch up with friends. Good for a relaxed, rambling weekend.

Liked: The fish market and artisenal shops were very cool. It has a free art museum off the Plaza de Armas that is very cool. All of the restaurants I went to were great, really delicious food. A couple near the city center were more expensive but the ones farther off the beaten trail were still great and a good value for my money. The seafood was WONDERFUL (I had the bowl of crab and cheese at one of the restaurants directly above the fish market, it was SO good). The mall is okay, nothing too special but you can get anything you need. Even though I didn't get a chance to visit, it has a movie theater which is an automatic bonus! And Casa Perla is a great place to stay. Very cozy.

Disliked: It's not really that great to look at, especially on a cloudy day. But I went in the off season and I'm sure it's very beautiful in the summer, or when you can see the volcanoes in the distance.

Customer Travel Tip: Download a street map, if arriving by bus! Equally 'best' tip: Do as I did and enter into the market opposite and eat lunch of shellfish etc no matter what time it is. Muy rico!! and great value.

Liked: The market opposite the bus station; the fish market; the fresh vegetables and fruit market stalls throughout, the seaweed veg on sale, the 'life', the rainbowed sea,

Disliked: The bus terminal did not have a street map and redirected me to a tourist information place a good distance away and difficult to locate with spoken directions, without a map. It also proved to be a long walk the wrong way for my hostel. Why no maps given out by the information desk in the bus terminal???

Customer Travel Tip: Check out the coffee shop above the Art Theatre in downtown Puerto Montt. The place is always packed and has excellent coffee. And of course, you must visit the fish market and eat at one of the local stalls. Though we didn't get a chance to try it ourselves, we got a tip from someone else that stall #19 was good!

Liked: A nice seaside city that had a small town feel, Puerto Montt makes a good stopover point on your way down to Patagonia. Loads of great supermarkets and delicious fresh fish at the fish market which is a must see.

Disliked: There were loads of craft stalls selling items at truly inflated prices.

Customer Travel Tip: Go to Beershop Salzburg, its cheap and you can find good quality beer.

Liked: It´s the regional capital and has the easiest way to get to Chiloe Island, Puerto Varas, Frutillar and Llanquihue, also, It has a large shopping center.

Disliked: it´s kinda scary at night and feels unsafe, even though I come from the Capital of Chile and go to sketchy neighborhoods from now and then, over there, don´t know why, I felt more insecure.
