26 Jun 2014

Travel Type:
Alone

Trip Type:
Sightseeing & culture

Customer Travel Tip: Not really a place for tourists to visit - not much to get out of a visit that couldn't be found elsewhere. Would be a better experience to study or work in Montreal.

Liked: Opportunity to practise speaking French.

Disliked: Aggressive homeless people begging for money. Not a great deal to see or do. Food and drinks are pretty ordinary. Difficult to find information on the city - eg can only purchase hop on hop off bus tour tickets from one place, that was far from the hotel and also far from the main tourist attraction of the Old Port area.

Customer Travel Tip: Went around Montreal via metro, bus and lots of walking. Some people prefer to rent bicycles or scooters which you can get for a decent price.

Liked: The culture, the food and the pubs. Maybe it's because my friend and I looked like to lost girls most of the time but many of the locals were extremely nice and helpful, offering directions when we didn't even ask for them.

Disliked: If you plan to drive, traffic is horrible.

08 Jun 2014

Customer Travel Tip: Spend enough time in Toronto and when you are in Montreal make a daytrip to Ottawa as well. If you have more time travel to Vancouver as well and maybe Hallifax.

Liked: Toronto was a great place to be, also due to the islands and Niagara Falls that can easily be reached. Montreal has a small historical center and is a modern city with busy traffic without green (besides the botanical garden outside the center) and is a bit disappointing for Europeans.

Disliked: Montreal is French and they are less firendly that the English speaking Canadians elsewhere.
