Customer Travel Tip: Do not spend a lot of time here....just enough for your reef excursion and then leave. Too costly and too touristy with not enough character to warrant a stay longer than 2 days.

Liked: Access to the reef

Disliked: The cost of everything is outrageously high and I do not believe it is justifiably so.

22 Dec 2013

Customer Travel Tip: If you're looking for a quiet resort town that's family friendly and you don't mind paying for it then Port Douglas is great. Also if you can hire a car it might be cheaper as getting around by bus transport is extortionate.

Liked: The beach is beautiful and there are lots of tours and a chilled vibe.

Disliked: IT was mega touristy and full of rich families that could afford the extortionate prices they charged for everything there. There wasn't much in the way of nightlife. I would stay in Cairns if you're going to explore the reef and the rainforest as lots of tours go from there and even though it takes a bit longer it's worth it for the nightlife and it generally being cheaper for travellers on a budget. If you're travelling on your own it's difficult to meet people.
