Edinburgh City Centre: Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party 2014 takes place on Princes Street and the surrounding side streets. The party will kick off at 7pm and the festivities will press on until 1am . There’s no entry after 11pm so don’t leave it too late to get there and remember, you can get all your food and drink from stalls. Keep things cheap by bringing your own booze, but decant it into plastic containers first or it will be confiscated, and there’s nothing more heartbreaking than having your New Year’s Eve tipples taken away. At the stroke of midnight in 2015 4.5 tonnes of pyrotechnics will fill the sky. Tickets are £20.00, with a £2.10 booking fee, buy them here.
Concert in the Gardens: This year Lilly Allen and Soul to Soul take to the stage at the concert in Edinburgh Castle’s gardens. Buy a ticket to the Concert in the Gardens and you’ll also get access to the Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party. The stage is live from 9pm-1am. Tickets start at £41, but they’re selling fast so hurry!
Mound Precinct: If you want to bring in the New Year dosy-doeing and round-you-going join the huge outdoor keilidh (Gaelic word for an event that involves dancing) up at Mound Precinct where you can learn the keilidh steps to some traditional Scottish music. There’ll be a keilidh caller to teach you the moves so don’t worry if you’re a beginner.
