1. Amnesia – best for keeping cool

’90s kids will remember Kevin and Perry (essential viewing for anyone planning a trip to Ibiza) making it big in Amnesia for their grand finale. There’s a reason the camera crew chose Amnesia – it’s world famous!

The main room, is what Ibiza is all about; awesome sound and an intense crowd. In fact the Amnesia sound system has a crazy electronic process which omits frequencies to create a type of sound massage on the human body… hmmm believe it when you feel it. Beat the sweats with a blast from one of the ice cannons or head out to the terrace to chill under a palm tree and recharge your batteries.

Big nights: Cream, Cocoon and Together
Where: San Rafael, 5-10 mins from San Antonio
Getting there: Free buses from San Antonio
The damage: Tickets €20-50, water and spirits €12

2. Pacha – best for surprises

Open all-year-round, locals and international Ibiza party lovers alike head to Pacha Ibiza. 20 other Pacha clubs around the world give this Ibiza nightclub notoriety but it is definitely the cream of the crop. A classy venue with a good dose of the Balaeric spirit attracts some of the world’s most famous DJs to don the decks – including David Guetta every Thursday. Pacha Ibiza should be top of your list and pretty much a guaranteed hit most nights of the week.

Big nights: Pure Pacha, F*** Me I’m Famous with David Guetta
Where: 5-10 mins walk from the Marina, 15-20mins cab from San Antonio
Getting there: Walk from Ibiza Town or cab it.
The damage: €50-€60, drinks €10

3. Space – best for daytime dancing

Who would have thought this place started as a concert hall with bands and flamenco shows that were the talk of the town? This is award-winning Ibiza stuff of legends and was elected ‘Best Global Club’. Their event We Love Space Sundays was voted ‘Best Club Night’ at the Dance Music Awards along with another string of commendations. If I was nitpicking, I’d say Space is more about the music than presentation although the outdoor stage is a drooler for Space opening and closing parties in the daylight hours.

Big nights: We Love Space Sundays, Carl Cox & Friends
Where: Playa den Bossa is 5-10 minutes from Ibiza Town
Getting there: Cab from Ibiza Town, long walk or bus
The damage: €30-65, drinks €9-12

4. Privilege – best for super super clubbing!

This is the world’s biggest club. Shall I stop there? This Ibiza superclub is THE place to go if you want to lose your mates, on purpose or accidentally. The dancefloor is one of the largest in the world and the 25m-high ceilings will leave you awestruck. It is worth studying the club’s map outside – yes there is a map!

Best nights: A State of Trance on Mondays, hosted by Armin van Buuren
Where: Halfway between San Antonio and Ibiza Town
Getting there: Free bus with your Privilege tickets or €10-15 cab ride
The damage: Tickets €25-€55, drinks €10

5. DC10 – best for underground clubbing

Down ‘n’ dirty clubbing in Ibiza? Really? DC10 shows you don’t need shiny floors and podiums to make a big impact – just a fresh approach. Housed in a converted aircraft hangar with an open-air terrace and planes taking off over the heads of happy clubbers, DC10’s warehouse rave stylings and legendary all-day Circo Loco parties on Mondays have made it a must-go. Its minimal techno sound means you’re likely to see this year’s Hot New Thing DJ before everyone back home’s heard of them – past DJs gracing the decks include Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler.

Best night: Circo Loco
Where: At the end of Ibiza Airport’s runway
Getting there: €10-15 cab ride from Playa d’en Bossa
The damage: Tickets €15-€30, drinks €10 (sometimes free drink on arrival)
