WinterCity Festival in Toronto
Travelers in Toronto will be treated to a spectacular final day of the 2009 WinterCity Festival today (12th February 2009).
Described as many festivals rolled into one, the festival's fourteen days of festivities feature many free events.
Nathan Phillips Square and City Hall have been packed over the past week or so with travelers and residents watching the free open-air Wow! program.
Highlights have included Dutch group Close Act, who fuse theatre and acrobatics with music to provide a spectacular performance.
Canadian musicians Thunderheist and Shad also put on a free show for fans and comedy shows and DJ sets kept crowds entertained.
Toronto's mayor David Miller commented: "Toronto comes alive with culture every winter as music, theatre, dance, art and food take center stage."
He added that the festival was an excuse for local people and travelers to venture out from their homes and hostels and experience the magical sights and sounds of the urban landscape in winter.
