True life tales

True life talesThe National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh is the venue for the launch of a book written by a host of celebrities and members of the public, in conjunction with the Scottish Books Trust.

After inviting people to send in a story detailing an experience in their lives, Days Like This is the result.

The book is made up of true stories each no longer than 1,000 words and touching on all manner of subjects.

Later this week (4th February 2009), the book, which has been organized in partnership with BBC Radio Scotland and the Scottish Arts Council, will be formally launched, reports the Scotsman.

Celebrity curators are among those who put pen to paper to tell their story.

The author Irvine Welsh, comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli, actress Siobhan Redmond and Idlewild singer Roddy Woomble all contributed to the project.

Each story provides an insight into life in Scotland, and, coupled with a visit to the National Library in Scotland, could prove a valuable source of information for the hostel-staying traveler visiting Edinburgh.
