Stansted Airport 'showcases environmental credentials'
Representatives from Stansted Airport have been discussing the transport hub's green credentials at the Airport Operators Association regional conference held last week.
Speaking at the event, Dr Andy Jefferson, Stansted's head of environment, said environmental responsibility it taken very seriously at the airport and noted that authorities there recently invested in a state-of-the-art wood chip biomass boiler.
The new technology has already helped the hub to cut its gas consumption by more than 40 per cent.
"We have one of the largest biomass boilers in commercial use for heating in the UK at present and cannot express enough how satisfied we are with its performance to date," he added.
Meanwhile, those interested in ethical student travel may be interested to learn that Birmingham Airport was recently awarded the Carbon Trust Standard in recognition of its environmental commitments.
