South Africa 'will be amazing in 2010'

Those planning to take a backpacking trip to South Africa next year will have the chance to combine the World Cup with the break of a lifetime, it has been claimed.

Lonely Planet travel editor Tom Hall said those visiting the country next summer will find no shortage of places to explore.

"Cape Town is the most celebrated city and you can see why. Table Mountain is a stand out attraction and it has a very attractive coastline. There are also some wealthy suburbs that are nice to stay in and some nice restaurants," he commented.

Mr Hall noted that one of the biggest highlights of South Africa is Kruger National Park, which is popular with locals, as well as the scenic Garden Route.

Meanwhile, Rachel Morgan-Trimmer, founder of the Career Break Site, recently suggested that taking a gap year is a great way for people to enhance their CVs.
