Ski bargains in Bulgaria and Slovenia
Backpackers looking to head off on a skiing trip any time soon may wish to take advantage of the great value offered by the ski market in Bulgaria and Slovenia.
The Ski Club of Great Britain has cited the recession as having a major impact on the ski sector but urges those contemplating a skiing trip for the up-coming peak season to book soon.
Travelers on a tight budget planning to go skiing over New Year or during the February half term can keep down costs by staying in hostels or choosing ski destinations that offer the best rates, recommends the organization.
A spokesperson for the Ski Club of Great Britain commented on the best value ski resorts: "North America [is popular] so Canada and the States where people normally go for a bit longer - ten days or so - the cost is a bit more but you are not getting hit by the euro. Otherwise you've got European destinations which don't use the euro, for example Bulgaria."
Ski conditions in the Alps and Pyrenees are said to be the best they have been in 25 years, the ski club of Great Britain has said.
