Plymouth Summer Festival appealing for student travel
With many student travel enthusiasts currently enjoying their long summer break, the Plymouth Summer Festival will provide plenty of welcome distractions over the next three months.
The coastal city in Devon has a stellar line-up of events planned in July, August and September, allowing revellers to make the most of the summer sun.
On 2nd July 2009, musical superstar Rod Stewart will be kicking off proceedings with a concert at Home Park, before the Golden Week (11th August 2009 to 17th August 2009) sees the Rolex Fastnet Race taking place at sea and plenty of tasty treats on shore at the Plymouth Flavour Fest.
David Draffan, Managing Director of Plymouth City Centre Company, said: "With good summer weather forecast and the school holidays approaching we are now ready to move up a gear with some of the biggest events in what is a summer programme to rival any in the UK.
"With so many events coming together under the Plymouth Summer Festival banner it means we have a very powerful message that Plymouth is a must visit destination for people who either live in the region or are visiting here."
On 30th July 2009, outdoor screens will be set up in Plymouth along with several other locations across the UK in order to show the Royal Opera's acclaimed production of La Traviata, live from London.
