Travelers making their way to New York next month may wish to drop in on the 18th Annual Native American Dance & Music Festival and Art Market, which is due to take place from 25th July 2009 until 26th July 2009.
Backpackers can extend their stay at their hostels to ensure they are able to enjoy the celebration of Native American culture.
Artists from across the US as well as from Canada will be exhibiting their artwork at the event, which provides a cultural insight into the lives of the indigenous people of America.
Famous names include the artists Tammy Beauvais, Peter Jones and Tammy Tarbell-Boehning, who will be bringing to audiences a visual spectacle that reveals the arts and crafts talents of the community.
Ms Beauvais is particularly acclaimed for her contemporary clothing, which uses symbolism that is representative of the design techniques of the Iroquois people.
The potter and sculptor Peter Jones, who is known for imbuing his pieces with what is known as 'Indian humor' will also be at the event.
In addition, Ms Tarbell-Boehning will feature her pottery doll series at the event, which consists of figures with distinct personalities.
