Moody in New York

Moody in New YorkTravelers looking to escape from their hostels for an evening of uplifting fulfilment may wish to make their way to Village Zendo in New York for an utterly alternative experience.

Novelist and winner of the Pushcart Press Editor's Choice award Rick Moody will be in residence talking about his latest literary offering The Diviners.

The evening is part of the Reading Series, organized by Koshin Paley Ellison, which takes place once a month on a Wednesday.

Moody is one of a number of prominent and talented poets and writers who have participated in the series of talks.

A prolific novelist, Moody's 1994 novel The Ice Storm was adapted into a film by Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee.

Starring Sigourney Weaver, Kevin Kline, Elijah Wood and Christina Ricci, the 1997 film details the dysfunctional lives of two New York families as they struggle to emotionally connect.

Moody's memoir the Black Veil was hailed as taking "the art of the memoir an important step into its future" by pioneering writer Thomas Pynchon.
