Journeys Hostels Launch New Pod Concept
Much has been made of the new travel innovation of pod hotels (individual design hotel rooms on a micro scale) but now UK hostel chain Journeys has bought the ‘pod concept’ to the world of hostels!
The entirely new accommodation concept will be launching at the company’s new property, Journeys Brighton.
Dubbed the J-Bunks, each bed comes equipped with individual lights, a power supply and privacy curtains. No more restless hostel nights for Journeys Guests - curtains will shield them from disruption from other guests.
You can also use your laptop in bed, taking advantage of the free WiFi or keep your camera, phone and iPod handy while they charge using your personal power supply.
Journeys doesn’t overlook the other hallmark of pod hotels – strong design features. Occupying the former Richmond Hotel in Brighton, the building’s exterior has been sympathetically restored, but inside there have been some fairly radical changes.
The Bar and Café area takes its cues from Brighton’s alternative scene with heavy pop art influences. Upstairs, the self catering kitchen is entirely clad in stainless steel, floor to ceiling and the adjacent common area is magnificently lit through a glass roof.
“We anticipate our Brighton Hostel and new J-Bunks will set a new standard for comfort and style in budget accommodation” said Journeys Managing Director, Dean D’Eye, ahead of the official opening on the 29th June.
J-Bunks are currently being rolled out in all Journeys properties in London including the popular Journeys Kings Cross and Smoking Barrels hostels.
