Jet2.com launches new backpacking routes

Budget airline Jet2.com has launched two new routes from Edinburgh Airport.

As of summer 2010, those booking backpacking flights can fly directly to Dubrovnik and Faro.

Services for both destinations will start from £34.99 one-way, including taxes and charges.

Gordon Dewar, managing director of Edinburgh Airport, commented: "The capital continues to attract new business and leisure destinations and this latest round of expansion from Jet2.com, now one of our biggest airlines in terms of destinations served, underlines the airline's continued confidence in Edinburgh Airport."

Some of the other destinations currently served by the airline include Murcia, Prague and Venice.

Meanwhile, low-fare airline Flybe recently announced details of its summer 2010 schedule, with the launch of additional routes from Aberdeen to Belfast, Cardiff to Paris and Manchester to Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hannover and Milan Malpensa.

In addition, flights will operate from Southampton to Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Dublin and Dusseldorf.
