Improved Bristol airport could soon be departure point for student travel

Travelers may be interested to learn that the south-west of England is about to offer greater transport facilities.

Bristol International Airport has just started the first phase of a development project that will see it construct a £7.5 million western walkway.

The new amenity will make the process of checking in and boarding a plane as simple as booking a hostel online.

Travelers will be able to walk directly to embarkation zones, cutting out the need for buses that previously ferried passengers around the airport.

Bristol International Airport's head of development Andrew Goodenough commented: "The western walkway will provide an improved experience for customers using the airport, providing direct covered access between aircraft and the terminal.

"This project represents a significant investment in passenger facilities and demonstrates Bristol International's commitment to building an airport the south-west can be proud of."

Earlier this month (17th June 2009), Continental Airlines announced low-cost fares on direct flights from Bristol to New York for just £289.30 return.
