HostelBookers link to Google Street View

Hostel-staying backpackers can now taking advantage of a revolutionary online resource that enables them to get a street view of hostels they are considering staying in.

Hostelbookers has added Google Street View to its site so travelers looking for a suitable place to check in can take a virtual walk round the area to determine whether they want to stay there.

The facility portrays panoramic views of streets, taken by a fleet of cars and tricycles fitted with nine directional cameras, a GPS unit and laser range scanners.

Local guides, event listings and multimedia travel news are also some of the features that travelers can take advantage of to decide which hostel to stay in.

The facility is available to backpackers heading to Australia, France, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand, the UK and the United States.

David Smith, chief operating officer at HostelBookers, commented: "The addition of Street View is just the latest in a long line of modifications to ensure that we provide customers with as much information as possible before booking their accommodation."
