Green festival fun while backpacking in the UK
Travelers in the UK may wish to venture out of their hostels for a couple of days to indulge in summer festival fun.
A whole host of open-air events are taking place but for those backpackers keen to maintain their environmentally-friendly credentials, the choice can be narrowed down.
One of the most eco-friendly festivals that travelers can enjoy is the annual Big Green Gathering.
First held in 1994, the idea was developed by visitors to Glastonbury's Green Fields area.
Taking place from 29th July 2009 until 2nd August 2009, the festival will be held near Cheddar in Somerset.
Coaches and buses will be laid on to ferry festival-goers from a number of major cities such as London, Swansea and Bristol.
A special shuttle bus will also be available to take travelers from Weston-Super-Mare station to the festival site, charging just £4 to do so.
Upon arrival various areas can be explored including the permaculture section, tipi village, kids corner and alternative media and renewable energy area.
